About King Jesus Orphanage - Tepa
King Jesus Orphanage/School is dedicated to supporting orphans in Ghana. Founded and operated by Pastor Nimoh Mensah and Family. Ghanaian nationals who saw the plight of orphans in their area and decided to do something about it. King Jesus Orphanage/School promises a long-term investment in the futures of the children for which it cares. More than a home, King Jesus Orphanage/School will strive to prepare children to be self-sufficient through academic and vocational training, and will give them a strong foundation in the Christian faith. It will also act as a community development center, training and employing community members while providing a focal point for community interaction and development.
Homeless and impoverished orphans in Ghana (many due to AIDS) are in need of care and education. When children lose their parents to an illness like AIDS, a relative generally takes in the child and cares for them. When no relative is able to care for a child, they are forced to live on the street and for that child, all hope is lost. Life is hard enough for a child in Ghana, but with no one to care for them; they are the poorest of the poor. Poverty in childhood is a root cause of poverty in adulthood. Impoverished children often grow up to be impoverished parents who in turn bring up their own children in poverty. In order to break the generational cycle, poverty reduction must begin with children.
The king Jesus orphanage is breaking this poverty cycle. By helping the absolute poorest of the poor, we can make the greatest impact on society. With childhood being the foundation of the world’s future; as orphan’s lives are changed… so will
it be with the generations that follow them. Ghana has no child welfare programs. With few governmental infrastructure established to care for orphaned and abandoned children, the local church is attempting to help the children. However, with congregations comprised of people living on less than a dollar a day, they do not have resources to make a significant impact. In cooperation with local churches, Pastor Stephen Nimoh Mensah begun the creation of the king Jesus orphanage to help orphaned and impoverished children, and the community at large, providing:
(1) Community Center with multiple activities and outreaches for children and adults alike, open daily and offering continuing education for adults and special activities for children.
(2) A children’s home/orphanage, for boarding students and short-term child care of children in transition from the street to long-term foster care.
(3) The center of operations for the child sponsorship and foster care programs where loving homes are carefully chosen and monitored to provide a new family to the poorest children from among the estimated 4 million orphans living in the country.
We are obligated to the value and participation of each community member through care, respect and changing the community. We are therefore extending this mission towards the poorest in the community around us and especially those orphaned as a result of HIV and AIDS in the deep rural areas and semi slum areas of Brong Ahafo towns. We also intend to serve and minister other areas outside District. The number of orphans is increasing everyday due to ignorance and poverty in the country. This has especially affected the above mentioned areas within our community.
Mission Statement
King Jesus Orphanage/School is dedicated to raising orphaned children in a Christ centered home, emphasizing sustainability, empowerment and community development.
Our History
Founded in 2004, King Jesus Orphanage/School is the dream of a Ghanaian couple seeking to make a measurable difference in their community. Armed with loving hearts and a never ceasing determination to save orphaned children from poverty and starvation, pastor. Nimoh Mensah and Family have fought tirelessly to make their dream a reality. Construction has been ongoing, and a foundation is being laid for a landmark organization that will impact the entire community for years to come. Four buildings have been erected, a borehole has been drilled for clean drinking water, and a garden and orchard have been planted. Chickens are being sold to bring in revenue, and a solar power system has been installed. Several children are already being supported with food and clothing, even before the organization officially opens.
Our Aims and Objectives
To break the cycle of poverty by providing holistic development to impoverish orphans and communities in Ghana, through meeting their physical, educational, spiritual and social needs. To challenge and equip children to live productive and responsible lives. Pastor Stephen and family in cooperation with some community leaders have established the king Jesus orphanage in Tepa Ashanti, to rescue children trapped in poverty in Ghana.
